And the employees of our transport company can confidently retort: "When we say Chukotka – we mean Malamut Trans, when we say Malamut Trans – we mean Chukotka."
It is in Chukotka that the country's northernmost city, Pevek, is located, which is exactly what we'll be talking about today. A few historical facts for the regular readers of our website:
Pevek is located on the shore of the Pevek Strait and the Chaun Bay. It has its own seaport with a convenient harbor, protected by islands, where large ships can call, and through which the Northern Sea Route passes. The city got its name from a hill that the Chukchi called "peekiney," which means "thick, swollen mountain." The city was founded in 1933, but until 1967, Pevek did not appear on any geographical map due to secrecy regulations.
In Pevek, just like in Arkhangelsk, there is its own specific "Chukotka dialect": seasonal port workers are called "bichi" in the language of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (ChAO) people, and if someone lacks intelligence or wit, they say here "ne khvataet tyamy" (literally "lacks wit/brains").
The managers of our wonderful company "had enough wit" back in January 2025 to open a separate division of the company in Pevek and to regularly ensure the presence of "bichi," meaning in this context: qualified company specialists for the implementation of critical and key logistics projects at the work site.
The office, consisting of two spacious rooms, a heated garage, and the company's cargo terminal, is located in the very center at: 45 Pugacheva Street, Pevek. We have an impressive fleet of cargo transport and lifting equipment at our disposal: 10 tractor units (6x6 wheel arrangement), 10 flatbed trailers, a 60-ton capacity low-bed trailer, a 75-ton capacity pneumatic wheeled crane, and a mini-loader. The garage for cargo vehicles is designed for 12 tractor units. Currently, a professional team of 15 people works in the Pevek separate division.

In December 2025, we successfully carried out the transportation of an oversized cargo within the port using a low-bed trailer: a pile driver for the construction of the "Chaun" port on Cape Nagleynyn.
Currently, the company is participating in a tender for the transportation of the same cargo directly to the construction site.

Crane Operations in Appapelgino
Malamut Trans LLC carries out crane operations during the construction of the airport located in the village of Appapelgino, 18 kilometers from the city of Pevek.
Currently, the main focus is on the delivery of goods along the route Pevek city – Peschanka deposit. Cargo is delivered for the construction of the copper ore deposit, one of the largest deposits being developed: in terms of the amount of explored ore, it ranks third in the world.
Working in Pevek
Arrived at 8:00 AM at the loading site to sort out work issues: exactly what and how much we are loading into each vehicle.
Our first vehicles, arrived for loading rolled metal, big bags with cement-sand mixture, and power line supports.
The cargo is stored over an area of more than 35 hectares in different loading locations. Loading is carried out around the clock at seven different points in the city, at three different terminals.

The equipment is parked outside; the interior space of the garage is free for repair work.
Average outside air temperature: -31 degrees Celsius. Frequent winds, called "yuzhak," can reach gusts of up to 50 m/s.
Container Loading
During the 2025 navigation period, a container was delivered on the motor vessel "Tambey". Since it was already impossible to travel on the summer road, it was placed in storage until the opening of the winter road in 2026. This is the last of 9 containers intended for a customer carrying out the construction of a cable car in the city of Bilibino, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
The container has already been loaded onto a vehicle and will be delivered to the consignee shortly. Currently, transportation of containers with socially significant goods for the region is being carried out — food products for companies involved in the construction of infrastructure for mining and processing plants.
Nuclear-Powered Icebreaker "Sibir"
But man does not live by "work" alone; Pevek is so amazing and multifaceted that simple human joys and amazing discoveries are not foreign to us: in our free time from work, you can approach here by "water" and, at arm's length, feast your eyes on such a northern beast as the nuclear-powered icebreaker "Sibir".
